CANADA

Mountains, “Mounties,” maples, and hockey: these are perhaps some of the better-known traits of our neighbors to the north, but between its 125,570 miles of coastline, the second-largest country in the world is an adventurer’s playground.

Legendary mountains like those of Olympics host Whistler and the Canadian Rockies tease the most expert skiers to test their mettle. Icefields Parkway’s scenic drive lead to outdoor escapades in huge parks filled with wildlife and white waters to raft. The vast wilderness of Yukon provides more of the same, while on the French side of the country, a more refined European influence—from cobbled streets to fine dining and old world architecture—reigns over the landscape.

Even so, there’s yet more to this country than these broad snapshots. Let the warmth of its people chase away the chill and leave you with memories sweeter than the lingering flavors of their famous syrup.
